The soon-to-be-open Agua Resort & Spa is located in Uvero Alto, an up-and-coming town near Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The 40,000-square-meter facility literally opened its doors when we arrived for a pre-opening ceremony. The resort will be fully complete and ready for the public by mid-to-late May. The best room is 53, the Villa Caney. It is a three-bedroom villa that has more than 4,000 square feet of living space and a private garden-view terrace. The villas also have a kitchen bathroom and a private garden with a swimming pool. Two bedrooms each include a king-sized bed and the third bedroom has two double beds. Its traditional Caribbean architecture consists of natural stone, local hardwoods and cane-thatched roofs. Each bedroom includes a large bathroom partially open to an inside garden and has a deep soaking tub, separate shower with multiple jets and spacious closet. The nightly tariff for this villa will be approximately $1,800 a night. The best views can be had from any of the Ocean View Junior Suites. These rooms are right on the beach, with 775 square feet of space, French doors leading to a private tropical terrace and sophisticated furniture positioned for views of the azure waters. These suites have either one king-sized bed or two queen-sized beds. The large bathroom with ocean views has a deep soaking tub, separate shower with multiple jets, double vanity and spacious walk-in closet. There are only 53 rooms on the property. The entire resort will have wireless Internet connectivity, which guests can receive free of charge. The resort was mainly designed as a sensual place for couples, but families are welcomed as well. Children must be at least two years old. The resort is equipped with a Kids Club and also offers private babysitting. Spa Yarari is a full-service spa with four individual treatment rooms, one couples treatment room, Finnish and steam saunas, Bubble Inox beds, a large indoor pool with Jacuzzi, Sensations showers and an ice fountain. The spa uses Phytomer products and a variety of indigenous body treatments custom designed using local fruits and plants
